Malaysia government is officially asking NGOs to launch dating or cupid services for single women so that single mothers can find suitable partners. This idea was mooted by Malaysia’s Women, Family and Community Development Minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil recently.
According to her, the ministry is not going to setup cupid or dating services but she sees no problem in supporting such idea because it does not go against the customs or religious beliefs.
I just hope this is not a one-person idea but a collective idea from the government as a whole. Sharizat might be an open-minded and liberal woman but she needs to work extra hard to win support from her subordinates when presenting idea which is quite a contrary to the general norms in Malaysia.
